I’m curious - just to confirm that I’m wrong

, I had thought that SEL went with solid lugs and the old end links went with the drilled lugs?
This is the progression apparently
2000: Solid end link bracelet indroduced (SEL).
2003: Laser crown introduced.
2003: No holes case starting (late Y-series).
So my 2002 with holes and SEL is correct.
John, JP……..Holy Mackrel….. those photos are just the absolute best… Man, I took a look and just ordered a new bezel. I like faded, but boy after those shots I like new even better.
Obviously only had the watch one day and I can’t stop looking at it. Sad really
I’ve always heard people talk about if you could only have one watch, well, I honestly think this is it. I love my SD but I doubt it will come out of the box much. My Omega SMP and Breitling Superocean and a couple of Doxas will start looking for new homes and I think I’ll just gradually whittle away my collection. Heck, I never wear most of them anyway.
There are a couple of things which make this watch perfect. Size, shape and wearability are pretty much perfect for my wrist. Put it on, forget you even have it on. It is a Rolex….. why would you wear something else
Winding it (and the SD) is a pleasure. It is silky smooth compared to any ETA based watch I’ve owned. It is iconic with a rich history…. Pan Am, Chuck Yaeger etc etc and it is a watch that many people won’t instantly recognizse becuse of the Pepsi bezel. A Submariner is instantly recognizable and I actually don’t want that. I want a watch that is recognizable by people who know what they see but others don’t (that’s one of the reasons I like Doxas). Maybe that sounds a bit flash and snobby or something. I don’t mean it to be. Hey, I drive a 15 year old Honda with 240,000 miles on the clock… but then I have absolutely no interest in cars at all. 4 wheels and it goes… good enough for me
No the GMT is my definition of a watch that has muted class. It’s running at +4 seconds in the last 24 hours so accuracy is without question and it is from one the "best" watch companies in the world. What’s not to like?
